'The Real' Co-host, Loni Love Has BeenTapped As The 2020 Commencement Speech For Her Alma Mater
Emmy award-winning co-host, Loni Love from the daytime talk show "The Real,"has been tapped to be the 2020 virtual commencement speaker for her alma mater Cass Technical High School.
Cass Technical High School, which is also home to the legendary Diana Ross, is known as one of Detroit's most prestigious and highest-performing schools.
Love made the announcement during the "Girl Chat" segment of the show.
In a statement, Cass Tech’s principal Ms. Phillips said that she was excited to have the news shared nationally.
"Watching the announcement on the tv, really made my quarantine."
In addition to Love being the 2020 commencement speaker, Love has a forthcoming memoir titled, “I Tried To Change So You Don't Have To,” In it, she opens up about her life growing up in the Brewster Douglas Housing Projects of Detroit during the crack era.
The memoir chronicles Love's journey of homelessness, graduating from Prairie View A&M University, working at General Motors, becoming a stand-up comedienne, talk show host and Emmy Award Winner.
Love’s “Girlfriend Check-In” with special guests Tami Roman, B. Simone, and Robbi Rogers is scheduled to air May 23, 2020, on The Oprah Winfrey Network
