Simone Biles Says She Too Was Sexually Abused by Former USA Team Doctor Larry Nassar
In the recent light of the #MeToo movement four time Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles has come forward to recount being sexually abused by former USA team doctor, Larry Nassar. In a post on Twitter Biles writes, “I too am one of the many survivors that was sexually abused by Larry Nassar. Please believe me when I say it was a lot harder to first speak those words out loud than it is now to put them on paper. There are many reasons that I have been reluctant to share my story, but I know now it is not my fault.”
Biles is the third member of the world famous American gymnast team, “Fierce Five” which includes Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas to accuse the former doctor of sexual misconduct. In an interview with “TIME” Magazine last year , Aly Raisman reveled that Nassar had appeared at her door at night, offering a massage under the guise of therapy. And it wouldn’t be the last. Hearing their courageous stories gave Biles the strength she needed to tell hers. “After hearing the brave stories of my friends and other survivors, I know that this horrific experience does not define me. I am much more than this.”
A total 140 woman have accused Nassar of sexual abuse and on January 16,2018 they will get to speak their truths. In November Nassar pleaded guilty to seven counts of criminal sexual conduct with children under the age of 16.
